What a weekend!

Breast Cancer Quilt by Lea Carr
Super busy weekend,  Went to Spring Fling Quilt Show at Barker's Island, where the quilts were created using at least 1/2 yard of Breast Cancer Awareness Fabric here is just one of the beautiful quilts.

The Quilt show also had demonstrations
which I do still need to download- keep an eye out for those in upcoming postings

After we enjoyed the quilt show we headed over to the UWS Powwow.  The Drums sounded good, the Dancers looked beautiful and the feast was very generous.  Saturday was maamakaaj!

Virtual Scrapbooking

Well Sale-a-bration has ended for this year, good thing Stampin' Up! has so many great things going on all the time!

Participated in the SCS Virtual  Scrapbook Weekend with a theme of Leap Year; here are a few thing I have been working on:

It actually started with a MINI VSBN a few weeks ago.the kids have taken so many pictures of the dog or the dog sneaks into the pictures of the kids.... well you get the idea
It was a 4 x 4 Challenge
1.) The pictures: I came across the image of the dog with that little St Patrick's day hat on which made me think of spring...I used the four images of the family dog, because the kids have taken more pictures of our dog than of each other the over the years...so thankful for digital
2) The sketch: was a great starting point but rather than use hearts for my four elements I used Pearls in the corners; because I think pearls are SO sweet!
3) Journaling: I used the text box to talk about dog/man's best friend- must be right the kids have taken so many pics of the dog!
4) Use four decorative elements- I am not quite sure what was meant by decorative elements. The pearls, the punches, layers of paper, the type of font used?

The second one is based on the song Froggy Went a' Courting all the images at the bottom right are from Christmas Village and Furry Folks Digital Downloads

Best Buds is from a challenge called Add One More and I added the Banner across the bottom

The theme for my Tic-Tac-Toe board was Childhood Games

The Spring Forward Challenge was to have the title spring forward across the two pages

I made the Leap of Faith page about the Waterwalk because it is a journey for those who do the walk, and prayers and faith that we will come together to make sure we have clean water for the future generations

The Leaping to Conclusions Challenge was great fun. The point is to create a title that will cause the viewer to Leap to a conclusion that is proven wrong in the images and journaling

I actually did two for the Leap in Time Challenge

It was a bit hectic here this weekend, so I made the first one with the kids and then made the second one later in the evening thinking I had missed one. That was when I made the one with my husband

Yep I did notice the years on there, I left them as a reminder of how glad I am that I made this using MDS, and that I can go back in and very simply change it! BTW they have extended the 30 Free Trail Version so if you have not tried it, don't miss out!

This one was a real challenge for me, Leap Math was a recipe
3-use 3 flowers
6- use six patterned papers
4- your choice
5- use 5 buttons

The Leap for Joy Challenge was to have something that started with each letter of the word JOY, and something that would make someone Leap for Joy.

J =  jacks
O = Outlined Occasions
Y = Yellow
I called it Joy Depends on the Toy

2012 March 28 Belli Challenge 140 Shapes

This challenge was all about the shapes! Just add three Shapes to your project and submit it on Creative Belli Challenge With MDS it was super easy and can also be easily made with stamps & Designer Series Paper. In MDS I simple added punches, re-sized for what I wanted and then filled them with the paper of choice. The shamrock is simply four small hearts that I have pointed in towards each other and then grouped with a pearl on top mounted on a circle punch, which is mounted on the Hello Baby Pennant punch. I added the tag from the Number One- Embellishments. I used the sentiment stamp from Daring adventure to finish it off!

Busy ... but fun!

This month is already off to a busy start.  We has a ton of snow, or at least a few feet of snow over the past week, so Handsome Hubby worked really long hours.  I taught a couple of classes, and came up with some new projects, got caught up on birthday cards.  Worked on my quilts and started some baby booties for a gift.

Details are located HERE

The past few days...

CAS- Need to take care of yourself too
Some of the projects I've worked on in the last few days

CAS- Teddy Bear

CAS- For so many reasons

Stitching

CAS- layering papers to create texture

CC363

There have quite a few , "How'd you do that?" questions about this card, which was inspired by a SCS color challenge to use
  • Basic Gray
  • Pink Pirouette
  • Pretty Pink

I also decided to make it a Clean and Simple (CAS) card.

I used
MDS and dragged the Basic Gray Background paper onto the Card template; then I added a square punch, resized it then color filled it with Pretty in Pink; added another square punch, color filled it with Basic Gray, resized it, added another square punch color filled it with Pirouette Pink and resized it.   Once my layers of paper are in place I added a drop shadow to give it depth.

I used the
Bordering on Romance Stamped Brushed Set Digital Download (125619  Price $3.95)   I dragged the Border image onto the workspace, and then used the change color tool, selecting Pirouette Pink, added a drop shadow; copied and pasted the image off-setting it from the first one.  I then selected both images and copied and pasted them moving the second set to repeat the first set of two.  I then selected all four borders and grouped them.

The next step is to add a Grosgrain Ribbon, and a Grosgrain Knot, group these as one unit.  Adjust the group over the top of the boarder images.

For the main image, I dragged the bundle of flowers on to the punched papers, used the Change Color Tool and chose Pretty in Pink, add a Drop Shadow. Next select the image and the Layer of Pink Pirouette, Basic Gray Paper Punches and Group them.  I added pearls from the
Basic Pearls and Rhinestones Digital Downloads (124330 Price: $1.95) I added a drop shadow to these as well. I selected the pearls, along with the grouped image and punches Grouping them as one unit as well.

The final item is the Thinking of You stamp from the
You are Loved Stamped Brushed Set Digital Download (129331 Price $7.95) I dragged this on to the project and then resized it and changed the color to Basic Gray.

Remember during this month, Feb 2012 you can download a
Free Trial Version of MDS , so much fun no cost to try it out!

Here are some Scrapbook pages I've been working on too

Here is the inspiration, for this Layout, I was able to re-size that fantastic Antique brad because I use MDS from Stampin' Up!

The theme was Circles, I used the Sweet Details dotted circles to make the bubble in the background. The flowers are also from Sweet Detail, same flower simply resized,  The Rich Razzleberry was used not just for the outline, but also for the drop shadow, allowing it to fill in some of the flower.

These two pages were a Recipe challenge:
1 picture, 2 papers, 5 embellishments

Using Buttons, because I was working in MDS I was able to add a Baja Breeze Brad then group the So Saffron Button and the Brad together I was then able to copy resize them to place them around the punch with the sentiment from the SALE-A-BRATION set Sprinkled Expressions. The paper is Sweet Details and is included in the MDS 30 Day Free Trial Digital Download
Sweet Details Brush Digital Set
and Coordinating Designer Series Paper
